Not everything is bad about a burnout for being honest. Sometimes you have to hit rock bottom as a reminder that your life isn't going into a direction any longer that serves you. And for being honest, I have not just been burnt out since November 2025. That burnout started a lot earlier - years earlier. But only now I finally had the guts to face reality and to to see that I am extremely burnt out. It took a long overdue dentist visit to get it confirmed from someone in the medical field.
So here I am now, focusing on all the things that already brought me joy when I was a kid:
1.) being creative
2.) drawing and illustrating
3.) reading and writing
4.) cooking and baking
5.) nature and animals
And basically from all of that the idea was born to open an online-shop. Truth being told it has been my biggest dream for many years to open an online-shop where I could sell the things I draw, design and create. But in the past i was so busy with freelance teaching that I had no energy to focus on my own business ventures.
Yes, I partly tried - years ago I opened a small shopify shop for digital products with botanical vector graphics I drew on paper and then vectorized in Adobe Illustrator for other designers to buy. For designers who don't wanna illustrate and draw themselves. But then life got busy, I only launched one product and surprisingly made one sale within the first week of launching. But then I was so busy with working that I had no more energy to continue working on that shop and in the end I closed it.
Then I had another attempt with selling printable wall art on Etsy. And I realized Etsy just isn't for me. Also the market for printable wall art was way too oversaturated so I closed the shop after about a year. But hey, one thing I am happy about now is that I created so many beautiful designs for that shop, that I can now repurpose for my new shop that I'm building.
So stay tuned, once I have everything set up you can buy from me posters and wall art, tote bags and at a later stage also mugs, t-shirts and hoodies. I'm super excited about this and I can't wait to wear and use my own products myself and to give them to loved ones as gifts.
My goal is to bring more joy and beauty into this world through my products and my newsletter. I believe we should all beautify our lives to make it more meaningful and fun.
Here's the link to my newsletter so you can sign up and receive a short 1-2 minute read once a week bringing you some real joy and love into your inbox!
And of course I'll also keep you updated about my shop progress if you wanna follow along.
March is still for recovery for me from that burnout and in April I wanna get back into creating mode and then hopefully opening the shop sometime in May 2026. I'm so excited!
